World Trade Illinois / Global Trade Center is located in Oak Brook and has a primary focus of placing Illinois companies into the international marketplace. From time to time we have opportunities for unpaid, commission-based internships available. Potential applicants should be diligent, self-motivated and focused individuals with a desire to expand their knowledge of the international business environment. Applicants should have the ability to work independently and in a team environment, as well.

Candidates will not be required, but may be encouraged, to occasionally attend receptions, etc. held outside of regular business hours.

Several types of internships are available.

Candidates are requested to commit at least three days per week from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the office. However, priority may be given to those whose availability is consistent with our needs. Communications/Public Relations: This internship includes working as a liaison to the press and media community. Responsibilities may include areas of advertising, branding, direct marketing, graphic design, packaging, promotion, publicity, sponsorship, public relations, sales promotions and online marketing.

Business Administration: This internship involves researching/facilitating trade education seminars and participating in business round-table meetings. Activities may include preparing country profiles, studying trade statistics and evaluating the trends in the global marketplace. Prior knowledge of foreign affairs, both macro- and micro-economic, would be an asset, but is not required. This position may also involve facilitating companies that are at various stages in the development of their international strategies.

Marketing: This internship includes facilitating access into global markets for Illinois based companies. Activities may include working with and analyzing companies in order to identify strategic growth opportunities. The candidate for this position should possess a bold personality and be able to generate and pursue leads and compile progress reports.

Event Planning: This position requires interns to plan events for World Trade Illinois / Global Trade Center campaigns or in conjunction with partner organizations throughout the state of Illinois. Partner organizations include, chambers of commerce, non-profit organizations, foreign government representations organizations and consuls. Interns will be responsible for planning event budgets and creating event marketing/logistics plans

Graphics Design: This internship requires creative thinkers with a strong artistic background. Interns will be responsible for creating visually appealing advertisements, website graphics, presentation and marketing packages.
